Fulfilling the promise to Vermonters with developmental disabilities transitioning to adulthood: From custodial care to skill-building.

Presented by: Dr. Patrick McGreevy, co-author of Essential for Living

Co-sponsored by VTABA and the Vermont Developmental Disabilities Council, this best-practice workshop by Dr. Patrick McGreevy introduces the audience to Essential for Living (EFL), a functional skills assessment and curriculum for individuals with high support needs. EFL bridges the gap that individuals with moderate-to-severe disabilities often face as their formal schooling years come to an end. Focusing on materially improving quality of life, EFL enables individuals to gain independence and greater choice, reduce problem behavior, and integrate more fully into the community, regardless of their communication mode.  For more information on EFL, please go to their website: https://www.essentialforlivingvt.com/

This program includes:

  • Workshop with Dr. Patrick McGreevy
  • Upstate Care Partners (NY) on agency-wide implementation of EFL.
  • Panel discussion on accessing EFL best practices in Vermont.
  • Box lunch with a $25 registration.
